Occlusal Disease (bite problems)
Occlusal disease is the lack of harmony between the way the jaws close and the teeth meet. Teeth are meant to protect each other. The front teeth protect the back teeth, and the back teeth protect the front teeth. If you do not have this mutual protection, occlusal disease can result. The occlusal discrepancy must be corrected prior to any restorative dentistry. This disease can take many forms, including:
- TMJ
- Headaches
- Neck aches
- Worn front and/or back teeth
- Chipped and fractured teeth
- Or loose teeth, when combined with periodontal disease
